‘Patriot’ games at the IRS

It sounds like the plot from a dystopian libertarian novel. The word “patriot” and the phrase “educating on the Constitution and Bill of Rights” triggered heightened scrutiny from the most intrusive agency in the federal government.

We now know that the Internal Revenue Service did indeed target conservative groups, as had long been rumored and oft-denied. The news is a perverse confirmation of the groups’ worldview, and a challenge to President Barack Obama’s. He always harangues us about putting more trust in government, and then you find out that the IRS has been singling out his political enemies.

R.I.P. old-time pro football players Tony Linhart, 70, Jack Butler 85, George Sauer, Jr. 69.

Helping Mark Sanford return to Congress in South Carolina’s special election could have been Democrats voting for him in the open primary, just as Democrats voted for John McPain in 2008. Of course Mark Sanford was a strong campaigner who had never lost an election and McPain was probably the weakest Republican in the 2008 field. I was hoping Teddy Turner would win the primary but given the two person choice, Mark Sanford was a lot better than ultraliberal Colbert Busch, a complete loser. We could say: blame it on Busch. Bill Clinton was far sleazier than Mark Sanford, yet he is a Democrat hero today.

Dear editor,

Randall Sanders died at the Dodge County Golf Club on April 10th doing something he loved; playing golf with his friends and looking forward to their weekly Wednesday night suppers together. It was how anyone with a special hobby and special friends would want to go – only it happened too soon, way too soon. Randall died instantly of a massive heart attack, absolutely no forewarning; thankfully, no suffering. Many have asked questions about his heart health. As far as we knew, Randall did not have a heart problem; no stents, no heart caths. He signed up with a cardiologist last summer just to establish himself as a patient and to set some baselines. His nuclear stress test and EKGs had all been normal. He had just visited his cardiologist six weeks before he died for his six-month follow-up. Everything was fine – or so we thought. We have subsequently learned that he did have coronary disease though it was never diagnosed nor was he taking any meds for it.

R.I.P. Howard Phillips, 72 and Pat Summerall, 82. I’ll bet most have never heard of Howard Phillips. It was planned that way by the medialeft.

Politicians make a nice living manipulating others. Some, like vice plagiarist Crazy Joe Biden, are tax-feeding lifers, living off the taxpayers for 40-plus years. Liberal Demo Senator Montana Max Baucus, the “brain” behind Obamacare, 36 years living off your taxes, is hanging it up. Good riddance, but he left us with a medical mess. These folks are heroes to hero-worshipping leftists. Liberals hate term limits. That’s why we need them; term limits, not liberals.
