Once again, the crisp May morning and the participants eager to walk or run set the scene at the Dodge County Courthouse for the second annual “Out of The Darkness 1m/5k Walk/Run.”

The crowd of 200 plus people was there to speak out for those who “cannot speak for themselves” as is stated in Proverbs 31:8a.

The event, sponsored by the Dodge County Baptist Association and Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), was held to bring awareness to the issue of the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC).
Continue reading "‘Out of the Darkness’ walk/run winners announced"

A local running group was recently sponsored by David Boyd of Rhine to participate in the second annual “Out of Darkness 5K” run held in Eastman. The Dodge Baptist Association sponsors the event to benefit children in Georgia who are victims of commercial sexual exploitation. The event raises money for Wellspring Living to support their vision to stop sexual exploitation of children. “I can help to stop these crimes against children and support the group of ladies my daughter runs with all at the same time,” Boyd explained. This is the second year that Boyd has sponsored this group of local runners in this event. Friday night finally arrived and Central Macon made their way to Dodge County High School’s (DCHS) stadium to compete in the first round of the region AAA state soccer tournament.

Soccer Coach Shelia Honeycutt kept telling our boys to “defend the teepee.” The boys kept saying “look up, get up and never give up.” These sayings couldn’t have been more appropriate for our all-out war against Central Macon. They were a team to be reckoned with. They were tough and wanted victory as much as our Indians did.
Continue reading "Indians defeat Central Macon to earn spot in state soccer tournament’s “Sweet 16”"
