In an emergency called meeting on Tuesday, April 30 at 12 noon, the Dodge County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to request the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport Authority table the sale of the river property.
After being in executive session, the commissioners came out into regular session and commissioner Karen Cheek made the following motion, “I would like to make a motion that the board of commissioners is interested in purchasing the land that the airport authority has for sale. This was purchased with public funds and we would like to use it for either wetland credits or some other purpose that we deem necessary. And I would like to ask that the airport authority would table that motion to sell the land because we are interested in purchasing it.” Commissioner Brian Watkins seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Watkins then made the following motion, “I would like to move that our attorney respond to the letter regarding trash on the right-of-way.” Commissioner Terry Niblett seconded this motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Two items, acquisition of property and legal matters, were on the agenda for the emergency meeting.
Commissioner Jr. Howell was not in attendance for the meeting.
